# Connect and deposit

Connect to HyperEVM, verify deposit capacity, approve USDC, and confirm newly minted vault shares.

A successful deposit exchanges USDC for vault shares. The usual wallet flow has two parts: approve the contract to spend USDC, then sign the deposit. Check the expected shares and fees before each signature.

{% step %}

### Open the production application

Use [ensemble.io](https://ensemble.io) and select the vault you intend to use. Read its strategy, fees, and risks before connecting your wallet.

The wallet must use HyperEVM, chain ID `999`. Keep enough HYPE for network fees as well as enough USDC for the deposit. [HyperEVM uses HYPE for gas](https://hyperliquid.gitbook.io/hyperliquid-docs/for-developers/hyperevm). Check [Contract addresses](/protocol-transparency/contract-addresses.md) when verifying a token or spender. Staging uses the same chain ID but different vault addresses.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check the amount and estimate

Enter your USDC amount and review the estimated shares, deposit fee, and available capacity. The amount must fit every active limit. A total vault cap is not a per-transaction allowance.

If the application cannot obtain fresh reads, wait for the data to recover before signing. The vault also requires confirmed Standard HyperCore account mode, normal operation, and no blocking pending work.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Approve the spender

An approval allows the named contract to transfer up to the amount you authorize. It does not create vault shares by itself.

Review the token, spender, network, and amount in your wallet. CircuitBreaker router calls approve CircuitBreaker; direct vault deposits approve the vault proxy. The spender must match the selected transaction path.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Sign the deposit

Review the vault, USDC amount, receiver, estimated shares, and fees. Refresh the estimate and simulation before signing because the price and remaining capacity can change.

The contract checks the request again when it executes. Both direct vault deposits and CircuitBreaker router deposits enforce CircuitBreaker policy.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Confirm the result

Wait for a successful transaction receipt, then check your resulting share balance. The receipt and vault deposit events establish that the exchange completed; an approval or interface notification does not.

A normal deposit creates shares in the same transaction. Later trading and capital movements are separate maintenance actions.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## If the deposit fails

Use the error to identify the blocked check before retrying. See [Transaction troubleshooting](/use-ensemble/transaction-troubleshooting.md). A reverted deposit does not mint shares, though the network may still charge gas.

## Before signing

Review the vault, amount, receiver and approved spender in your wallet. Capacity and fees can change before execution. A direct vault deposit follows CircuitBreaker policy too; changing the entry path does not bypass its controls. Read [Fees and caps](/how-it-works/fees-and-caps.md) for the terms.
